يستقبل القسم شهريا مجموعة واحدة من اصل ستة مجموعات من طلبة السنة الرابعة.و المجموعات مقسمة كالتالي:

يستقبل القسم شهريا مجموعة واحدة من اصل ستة مجموعات من طلبة السنة الرابعة، اول يوم في الشهر يقوم رئيس القسم باعطاء مقدمة للمنهج ويقوم احد أعضاء هيئة التدريس بشرح المصطلحات الجديدة لكافة المجموعة ثم تقسم المجموعة الى مجموعتين صغيرتين للتدريب العملي بحيث تلتحق مجموعة منها بالعيادات الخارجية بمستشفى العيون ( وتقسم بدورها الى أربع مجموعات) و المجموعة الاخرى تكون بقاعة المحاضرات بالمستشفى تتلقى التدريب على هيئة عرض شرائح و حلقات نقاش وذلك حتى منتصف الشهر . و يتم التبادل بين المجموعتين خلال النصف الاخر من الشهر ليلتحق الجميع بمختلف التدريب.

الامتحان الجزئي في آخر يوم من الشهر و يتكون

وبالتالي تكون درجة الاعمال للطالب = 20 درجة (20% من درجة المادة الكلية)

يتم تسجيل حضور الطلبة للتدريب العملي عن طريق سكرتير القسم بالمستشفى.

حسب لوائح الجامعه أي طالب يتجاوز غيابه في الجزء العملي نسبة 25% لا يسمح له بالدخول للامتحان الجزئي.

الطلبة الباقون للاعادة غير مطالبون بالحضور و الغياب أو الامتحان الجزئي وتكون درجة الامتحان النهائي من 100.(المجموع من 80  تضرب الدرجة في معامل 10/8  ليكون الناتج النهائي من 100).

تكون هناك مراجعة قبل الامتحان النهائي يحدد موعدها القسم في حينه، كما يحدد مكان الامتحان في وقته.

الامتحان النهائي يتكون من شق نظري يحمل 40 سؤال  MCQs(20 ) درجة و سؤالين short essay questions (10)  درجات.

و الشق العملي يتكون من امتحان شرائح 15 سؤال (30) درجة و امتحان مناقشة حالات (10) درجات، اما الشفوي فعليه (10) درجات.

الطلبة الباقون للاعادة غير مطالبون بالحضور و الغياب أو الامتحان الجزئي وتكون درجة الامتحان النهائي من 80 مضروبة في المعامل 10/8 ليكون الناتج النهائي من 100.

The aim of MSc course in Ophthalmology is to produce a competent ophthalmologist who:

Has scientific knowledge essential for the practice of ophthalmology according to the international standards.

Has acquired skills in effectively communicating with the patient, family, and the Community.

Develop a personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff.

Is oriented to the basics of scientific medical research.

Can maintain ethical principles related to ophthalmology

Teaching Program

Lectures: are given for all students in lecture hall.

Self-learning method through Seminar presentations including detailed topics covering all aspects of ophthalmology.

Case based presentation: so as to be expert in clinical evaluation, reach a diagnosis and then plan for appropriate and required management.

Research: Every student has to carry on and publish 2 researches one during the first year and the second one during the second year (under the guidance of a post graduate teacher) for investigative, analytical, synthesis and data interrogation skills to be developed, prior to being put into practice in the dissertation.

Thesis

Every student registered as post graduate shall carry out work on an

assigned research project under the guidance of a recognized post graduate teacher, the result of which shall be written up and submitted in the form of a thesis. The department and the ethical committees must approve the protocol of the research.

The thesis is supervised by one or more senior staff members and

may include other specialties according to the nature of the research.
